First Day at School

Last Tuesday Hilde returned to Darley Primary School for Year 1 (equivalent to 1st grade in the States). She was very excited to have Mrs. Norman (nee Miss Umpleby) this year, she feels so grown up now that she isn't the youngest grade in school. And I am so excited that we are back to wearing school uniforms. Not only is she adorable in them, but no more arguments about what she can and cannot wear, hooray! Here were some pics from the big day.

I am really impressed with the uniforms idea. I don't know why so many parents are opposed to them here in the states- having taught high school, I would much prefer if the girls had to wear uniforms as opposed to the slutty outfits so many of them wore!!! (they would sneak them to school and change when they got to school so their mothers didn't know just how slutty they were- aghh, to have had uniforms!!!)

I am a big fan of uniforms now. However, we see a lot of teenage girls in uniforms with skirts that just barely cover their butts. I think they both the smallest skirt they can fit into and hike it up, so they will still find a way to attract attention.

Gosh, I remember when she had her first day of school there right when you guys got there. She and her honey nut clusters of oats for breakfast, all cute in her uniform. Why are our children growing up so quick?
