Ever since we moved here, I have wanted to visit the
Bronte Parsonage. Living here in North Yorskshire, I re-read Wuthering Heights. It came to life much more as I now
know what the windswept moors look like and how utterly eerie and forlorn they can be. I re-read Jane Eyre, and found myself picturing MY countryside as she walked about. I have read most of what the Bronte sisters wrote at one point or another, and it is simply amazing to see how tiny their house was. They didn't live in the lap of luxury, but the area is so inspiring.

The church graveyard and the church where the Bronte's father was parson.

This is the view from their street. Honestly, this is one amazing place. I am going to leave a piece of my heart here in England.

Thanks for all these post updates and sharing your wonderful experiences and places. I love the eerie graveyard and photosof the moors . I understand there's a new Jane Eyre coming to film this spring.
I will miss these snapshots of your life in England--but that will be overcome by the pleasure of having you home again. I was looking at a family history line we've not pursued and found we have a line that came from Yorkshire in the 1600s (Dents) to help settle St. Mary's Co. in Maryland--so Dave does have legitimate Yorkie roots!
Enjoy these next few months (though I'm sure there's a lot to do). Have you received your invitation to the royal wedding yet? I presume they chose the date so you would still be in England.
Thanks Janet - no invitation yet. But I do know a bunch of people going down to London to try and see the wedding processional. I think I'll just watch it via TV, but if the mood strikes, you might see me in the crowd...
