Running Buddies

Yesterday Hilde and I went on our first run together. We got on our shorts, tee shirts, and running shoes. We put our hair up in pony tails. We headed out the front door and Hilde determined our route. Then, we were off. We ran about two blocks and then walked, and then ran some more. Then it was mostly walking to the end of our street where we took a break and Hilde played at the park for a few minutes. Then we headed back. Just when I thought that things had gone really well Hilde says the following:

"I am so tired, I don't think I can walk home. I really wish we hadn't gone for a run, I don't have any more energy, will you carry me?" Well, I wouldn't call it a grand success, but I CAN call it a start. And overall, it was fun. Maybe next week we can run 3 blocks. And you KNOW that I am planning on signing us up for a little 1 mile "race" sometime.

That is fun that you and Hilde went for a run together. To bad she was to tired to go back home. Did you have to carry her?

No, I made her walk home. It wasn't that far, and I had told her from the beginning that I wasn't going to carry her. So we took lots of breaks and took our time.

Love it! Hilde is a doll!! Love the babysitter notes: Nighttime: Never soon enough. Isn't it true? Good job getting Hilde out running! Austin wouldn't get past our cul de sac. You are such a good example! She's following after her athletic mommy!
