Baby Y will be making its debut sometime circa mid-July. Here is the first photo taken at about 13 weeks. One perk of the National Health System is that an ultrasound is required during your first 10-13 weeks to nail down the due date and check for any complications. It was a pleasant surprise to not have to wait! Our next ultrasound will be at 20 weeks, where they will be able to tell us the sex, hopefully. This little one didn't stop jumping around during the whole exam. It would kick with its feet and float to the top of the sac and then slide down again, waving its arms the whole time. Adorable for now, but I see lots of pain/pushing for room in my future!Hilde has already started to "help" with names. These excerpts are from some conversations this week.
Conversation 1:
Hilde: Mommy, if we have a girl can we name her Sparkle?
Me: Sparkle is a pretty name, but no. Mommy and Daddy will pick out the name once we know whether it is a boy or a girl and we will tell you what the name is.
Hilde: But mom, Sparkle is the only girls name I know.
Me: Really, what about Laura or Nora or Rachel, etc.
Hilde: I only know Sparkle mom.
Everyone goes to bed.
Conversation 2 - the next morning:
Me: Daddy, Hilde asked me last night if we could name the baby Sparkle if it was a girl.
Dave: Sparkle?? Hilde, mom and dad get to pick out the name.
Hilde: But Daddy, Sparkle is the only girls name I know. Brief pause. Wait a minute, I know another girls name........how about BROWNIE?!
Needless to say, Hilde doesn't get a vote, although we love her creativity.

Congrats, you guys.
That's great! Luckily, Audra is a little too young to be picking out names...I am hoping our babies are born at the exact same time now, too! That would be really cool!!!
Tell Hilde I see nothing wrong with Sparkle, in fact I think it's a great name.
Michelle! That is fantastic! Congratulations!!!! We're so excited for you! My sister in law will deliver in Geneva in March. She's actually looking forward to it - sounds like they have a great set-up there. I assume you will have something similar? Hurrah for the Younces! We love you guys!
@Tona - will do. We have been very careful not to shoot down any of her ideas or make fun of them as we know she is serious, and we like her creativity. Heck, who knows how weird the names we pick will sound to everyone else!
@Cath - So far everything is very midwife centric. I think we don't even meet with a doctor once or twice before delivery and they are only involved if something goes wrong. And they told us we only have to stay at the hospital for 6 hours after delivery. So if we time it right, we can be home the same day if we want. I found that really interesting.
I think Sparkle would be a good nickname for a lot of names. We hope you will be feeling better soon, Michelle, and sparkling.
Wow! Hooray. I'm so excited for you guys.
P.S. Just got your Holiday card/letter. Love the updates.
Great to hear! Congratulations. You could always do Amaryllis.

CONGRATS Younces!!!! YAhoo! That made my day! I personally love the names Sparkle and Brownie. Ashley would ask if you could name the baby Peachy. That's her special name for a baby.
Um, actually I call dibs on Brownie because it fits our theme better. But Hazel would like to get in on the naming action. I told the girls last night Aunt Michelle has a baby in her tummy and Hazel asked, "What is the baby's name?" I said, "We don't know yet. We have to wait until it's born and then they will give it a name."
Hazel, "Well why don't we call them and tell them a name!" Of course that already occurred to me but I think we all know how much naming each other's babies is appreciated. I say anyone going through that kind of nauseated hell at least gets naming rights.
I have been telling everyone with name suggestions that there's a £5 processing fee for each suggestion, and no guarantee of any kind.
I think Andrea sounds like a great name. Or Rich! (Now don't hurt my feelings with your response.) Self esteem stuff an all.
My coworkers at work have started using my big whiteboard to cast their votes for names. There is a boys and girls column and people are writing names on it and putting checks next to names they like. Dave tells them there is a 5 pound processing fee for each name (roughly $7.50), but somehow none of the names have appeared with money. I have been clear that their votes don't count, but it is fun to see them so excited about us having a baby. We may have to put Rich and Andrea on the list!
