While Dave was at work I took the kids to our church's 4th of July pancake breakfast. I told the kids we were getting pancakes, and they were super excited. Then we got there and discovered it was a breakfast casserole kind of day - OOPS. The kids were not nearly as excited, but they did find plenty of muffins and other things to eat and they enjoyed riding their bikes in the bike parade. Phinn was against documenting the event, despite Hilde's attempts otherwise.
We had a low-key fireworks show in front of our house with a small kit Dave and Enoch picked up. Freya slept peacefully upstairs. We did a few with Phinn, then put him to bed before doing the rest. Later we went on our deck and watched somebody else's big fireworks show, we'll definitely remember to do that again in the future.
This girl is growing up way too fast.
Ever the multi-taskers, we used the fireworks show as a way to get some burn marks on some wood Dave is going to use for an upcoming game. The kids had fun checking out the damage and suggesting other configurations.
