Most years we head out west to go apple picking in the Fall. This year we decided to go peach picking in the summer. It was a super hot day, the tolerance level for all involved was fairly low, so it was a quick trip. Hartland Orchard is in Markham, VA, about a 45 minute drive away. They claimed the peaches were ripe, but when we got there it was clear that most of them could use an additional week or longer on the vine. We picked a few, then grabbed some corn, green beens, peppers and picked some blackberries. By then most everyone had given up and were sitting watching shows in the air conditioned van. We paid for everything and headed home to enjoy the goods. My favorite part of visiting orchards: the pictures.
